Bespoke Felted Play World

Some little worlds are waiting to be imagines. Others are waiting to be made. 

Each Shoppe Soie felted play mat is handmade from wool, creating a soft, tactile landscape for little hands and wonderful imaginations.

With our Bespoke Mat option, you can create a landscape made specifically for your child. Choose a setting, colour palette and level of detail, then tell us about the little things that make their world theirs. Favourite animals, beloved toys, magical creatures, a particular book, colour, a secret woodland path... these details can all become part of the landscape.

Every mat is individually designed and wet felted by hand, so no two will ever be the same.

How does it work?

Once you have made your order, I will be in touch to talk through your little world, Selecting a size (have a specific spot you need it for?). Choose the world, tell me your story and add any detailing you want, adding as much or as little as you like. 

Then we create! Your design is interpreted and handmade here in the Shoppe Soie studio, with the organic variation and character than comes from working with wool by hand.

What will my finished mat cost?

Because each mat is individually designed, the final price depends on its size, complexity and amount of detail involved. 

As a guide:

Small (40 x 40cm) - $150+

Medium (60 x 80cm) - $210+

Large (80 x 100) - $320+

Extra large (100 +) - $450+

*Custom complexity increases the price (don't worry, we can discuss you budget and desires before anything is set in wool). 

A little note about bespoke pieces...

Because each mat is individually handmade, your finished piece will be an artistic interpretation of your ideas rather than an exact reproduction of a reference image. Colour, texture, size and details may vary, and these little differences are part of what makes a handmade piece unique. 

Don't worry, you'll be there every step of the way.

** the price paid at checkout is a non-refundable design deposit, which covers the time spent getting to know your vision, discussing your ideas and developing the concept for your little world.

Once your design has been discussed and confirmed, this deposit will go toward the balance for the overall quote. 

If you decide not to proceed with the mat after the consultation, the design deposit is retained to cover the time spent developing your bespoke mat.
